Major Job Duties:
• Typically manages up to 12 SEs and spends an average of 3 days a week in the field working with their SEs.
• Owns technical account management responsibilities and customer satisfaction of the accounts assigned to their SEs.
• Works directly with customers in need by assuming a crisis intervention and mediation role.
• Fills in for or supplements SEs, whenever necessary
• Hires, trains, motivates and retains top SE talent
• Mentors and coaches their SEs on their strengths and weaknesses, and provide guidance and assistance on developing the SE’s career development plan.
• Facilitates, delivers, and manages the formal, semi-annual performance appraisals and career discussions as well as more informal feedback on an SE’s performance
• Manages and facilitates SE career paths, training, and rotational growth opportunities
• Develops individualized training plans that demonstrate creative ways of learning, mentoring, situation-specific coaching, on-the-job training, and partnering on assignments to increase the value of their employees to the company.
• Executes on plan, manages multiple sales efforts at once
• Leads the SE team to focus on processes as well as end results
• Manages multiple SE resources towards quota and customer/partner satisfaction
• Organizes team resources to ensure regional coverage on all technical fronts and serves as a point of contact regarding scheduling conflicts
• Creates a team-oriented environment characterized by trust, cooperation, and the willingness to learn
• Demonstrates a strong teaming relationship across organizational boundaries including: Sales, SE Management, and Professional Services
• Understands and utilizes company assets, as needed, to achieve team and regional objectives
• Contributes to Sales Managers account strategy and works with account teams to develop a technical sales strategy
• Contributes to and executes on regional and corporate initiatives
Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
• 9-14 years industry experience
• 9 years experience as an SE, consultant with customer focus, or equivalent experience
• 2 years proven leadership ability
Technical Skills:
• Familiar with both MS Windows and Unix operating systems
• Familiar with the principles of writing, compiling, and debugging Java programs. Ability to actually write, compile, and debug Java programs is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of J2EE
• Solid understanding of XML and web services
• Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases
• Ability to understand UML and Entity-Relationship diagrams is required. Ability to create these diagrams is highly desirable.
• C/C++ experience is a plus
• Tuxedo, TopEnd. or other TP Monitor experience is a plus
• Portal experience is highly desirable
• Integration experience is highly desirable
• Familiar with message oriented middleware concepts and their use in a technical solution.
• Familiar with EIS/EAI concepts, messaging and data models as part of an overall integration solution.
• Good understanding of the full application lifecycle
