[转帖]奥巴马给《南方周末》的留言

阳关三叠

　　11月18日早晨，《南方周末》在北京的一家饭店采访了来华访问的美国总统奥巴马，《南方周末》在采访时送给奥巴马一份去年该报报道他当选美国总统的报纸，奥巴马则在专访后为该报留言，留言的大意是说：

　　“致南方周末和该刊读者：我期待着我们两国之间关系纽带的继续延伸，同时祝贺你们在重要政策信息的分析和流动方面所作出的贡献。了解各方信息的民众对有效的执政来说，至关重要，而自由的媒体的贡献正在于为公众传递信息。”

　　致南方周末及其读者

　　I look forward to continuing the ties between our two countries,

　　我希望继续维护我们两国间的关系

　　and congratulate you for contributing to the analysis and flow of vital political information.

　　并祝贺你们在分析及传递关键政治信息上的贡献

　　An educated citizenry is the key to an effective government,

　　受过良好教育的公民是建立一个有为政府的重要前提，

　　and a free press contributes to that well-informed citizenry.

　　而出版自由对这一有智识的公民社会大有助益。
