SAIC Motor and the Board of Directors of Shanghai-VW have recently announced that Chen Zhixin will no longer hold a concurrent position of the General Manger of Shanghai-VW and General Manager of Shanghai-VW Automobile Sales Co.Ltd. Liu Jian, former General Manager of the Shanghai SIIC Transportation Electric Co. Ltd. Will replace Chen and shoulder the responsibility of being the General Manager of Shanghai-VW; Zhang Hailiang, former HR & Administration Manager of Shanghai-VW, will assume Sales Executive Manager of Shanghai-VW and will hold a concurrent position as the General Manager of Shanghai-VW Automotive Sales Co. FAW Cars has agreed to Mazda Motors’ proposal to increase their share from 25% to 40% in FAW Mazda Motor Sales Co. Ltd. After the capital increase, FAW Cars, Mazda Motors and FAW Group will hold a 56%, 40% and 4% of the JV respectively. The National Development and Reform Commission announced Wednesday night that the prices of gasoline, diesel oil and aviation kerosene would be raised by 500 RMB per ton. FAW-VW will carry out a rating system for its 4S dealerships. In accordance with the performance, FAW-VW will classify the dealers into A, B, C and D grades from good to poor, with a detailed standard for each grade, such as monthly sales, maintenance quantity and maintenance price. Sales rights for FAW-VW’s models for dealerships of each grade will be differentiated. The A-grade dealers can sell all FAW-VW’s models; B-grade dealers are qualified to sell all models except for the Magotan; C-grade dealers are allowed to sell all models except for the Sagita and Magotan; while D-grade dealers are be eliminated from FAW-VW’s sales network or become second-tier dealer. Delphi will further enlarge its capacity in China by building an automotive air conditioning compressor plant in Suzhou, Jiangsu province. The new plant is scheduled to begin production in July, 2008. The establishment of the new plant means that Delphi will bring the technology of new generation variable displacement compressors to China and will introduce a world-class system and technology onto the market. Germany’s Continental AG has announced that the company will build its first tire plant in Hefei, the capital city of Anhui province. The plant will involve a total investment of 150 million Euro and will realize an annual capacity of four million tires for use on passenger vehicles when it begins production at the beginning of 2010. Germany’s Lenze launches plant in Shanghai with 10 million EurosLenze AG, a German manufacturer of transmissions, has announced that its first plant in China had begun production in Shanghai. The plant involves a total investment of 10 million Euro and will introduce complete sets of technology and equipment from Germany. Lenze has already established 9 offices and more than 10 distributors in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Kunming, Qingdao and Shenyang. The Delphi Parkard Electric Systems Changchun Branch has moved in the Jilin Changchun Economic Technology Development Zone. The company occupies a total area of 22,000 sq meters of land and its capacity will double.
