Chinese Holiday
l New Year Day (From Jan.1 to Jan. 3, 2007) In China the legal holiday is Jan. 1. But on Dec.30 (Saturday) and Dec.31 (Sunday), we usually still work and don’t have a rest. Then moving the two weekend days to Jan.2 and Jan. 3, so we put Jan.1, Jan. 2, Jan. 3 together and can have a three-day holiday. l Spring Festival (From Feb. 18th to Feb. 24th, 2007) In China the legal holiday is from Feb. 18th to Feb.20th. But Feb 18th is Sunday. We move Feb.17th,18th, 25th.to Feb.21st,22nd,23rd . Feb. 24th is Saturday. So we can put Feb. 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th together and can have a seven-day holiday. Of course we have to work on Feb.17th an 25th. l Women’s Day (Mar. 8th, 2007) This legal holiday is only for women. On this day women can have half a day holiday. l Labour’s Day (From May. 1st to 7th ) In China the legal holiday is from May. 1st to 3rd. But on Apr. 28th (Saturday) and 29th (Sunday) we usually still work. Moving the two weekend days to May, 4th and 7th , we put May. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th (Saturday), 6th (Sunday), 7th together and will have a seven-day holiday. The seven-day holiday is called golden week. l National Day (From Oct. 1st to 7th) In China the legal holiday is from Oct 1st to 3rd. But on Sep. 29th (Saturday) and 30th (Sunday) we usually still work. Moving the two weekend days to Oct. 4th. and 5th. we put Oct. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th (Saturday), 7th (Sunday) together and will have a seven-day holiday. The seven-day holiday is also called golden week. |
