How to improve your listening comprehension?

Per my opinion, the most important thing is that you have a right pronounciation. Only so you can understand the right pronounciation. Or you can not understand it even it a very common words.
For example the word "bed". If you read it as /bid/, no one can understand you. Than's it.
How about your opinion?
